Semliki National Park

Semliki National Park is also well known as Toro Reserve. The Park lies near the northern base of the Rwenzori in Uganda. This is the only Park in Uganda where night game drives can be carried out to spot different nocturnal animals. The Park is also a rich habitant for butterflies with over 300 species of them and 400 species of birds.
In terms of Size, its 220 kms and lies along the Congolese border following the Semliki River, within the Western arm of the Albertine Rift Valley, in the North of Rwenzori mountains. Semliki National Park also records almost 336 tree species of which 24 are restricted to the Park only (like Isolana Congolana and Ejacis Guineesis), 435 bird species (at least 40 of them are found nowhere else in Uganda). Among the mammals found in the park include the elephants, leopards, buffaloes, flying squirrels, pygmy antelope and six types of bats. Chimpanzees are also found in the park together with other primate species like the blue monkey, vervet monkeys, and baboons and so on.

Nature walks from the headquarter at Sempaya gate down to the river Semliki, bird watching, butterflies watching are the best tourist activities done in the Park. The Park has 2 Hot springs of which one is Male and the other female
