This is the largest National Park in Uganda and was named after the mighty Murchison falls where river Nile bangs its water through a narrow 7 meter gorge and drop down 45 meters thus making a thunderous roar and creating a beautiful rainbow. The park is under Murchison Falls Conservation Area. Other reserved areas under MFCA are Bugungu Wildlife Reserve and Karuma Reserve. The Conservation area is 5,025Kms in terms of size. The Park is well famous for its Murchison Falls where water flows from the top down to the bottom which is transmuted into a froth of thunderous white water, with no equivalence to any other site in East Africa.
Within the Park there is Budongo forest with the elevation range from 619m at the delta region on Lake Albert and 1292m at Rabongo hill.
In terms of wildlife, the Park has almost 76 mammal species which include Giraffes, elephants, lions, leopards, spotted hyenas, kobs, bushbuck, waterbuck, Oribis, and jackal.

There are different tourist activities carried out in the Park and these are; Launch cruise from Paraa to the bottom of the Nile and this takes like two and half hours drive. It is 17km from Paraa to the place where the boat stops. This offers you a chance to see animals like elephants, buffaloes, waterbuck, hippos, crocodiles, water birds similar cormorants, pelicans, herons, fish eagle, shoebill stork.
There is also hiking to the top of the falls. Most of the clients access the top of the falls from the bottom. They reach the bottom by the launch cruise and then at the point where the boat stops, they start their hike to the top of the falls.
